Common use
Grisactin is an antifungal medication which used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails such as jock itch, athlete's foot, and barber's itch. This drug does not treat infections due to bacteria or yeast. Crisactin just stopping the growth of fungi.
Dosage and direction
Take it orally with full glass of water or with food.
The recommended dose for adults is:
PO 500 to 1,000 mg micro-size (330 to 750 mg ultramicrosize) in single or divided doses during for several weeks.
The recommended dose for children is:
PO 11 mg microsize/kg/day (125 to 500 mg) or 7.3 mg ultramicrosize/kg/day (82.5 to 330 mg).
The length of treatment depends from the type of infection and consist:
1. Tinea corporis: 2-4 weeks
2. Tinea capitis: 4-6 weeks or longer
3. Tinea pedis: 4-8 weeks
4. Tinea unguium: 3-6 months or longer

Precautions
Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: a certain blood disorder (porphyria), severe liver disease (liver failure). Don't forget to tell your medical history, especial if it include lupus. Do not driving while you taking Crisactin because it make you dizzy or less alert. Do not drink alcohol, this may cause a fast heartbeat and flushing of the skin. Avoid the sun, use a sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Grisactin should not be used during pregnancy, becoming pregnant or lactating without doctor's advice. Do not use before breast-feeding without doctor's advice.
Contraindications
Grisactin is not allowed to people with hepatic disease, porphyria (interferes with porphyrin metabolism), hypersensitive to griseofulvin or any componentof this dug.
Possible side effect
They may include an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Also the most possible side effects include:
white patches in your mouth (thrush/yeast infection);
nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea;
headache, dizziness, or tiredness;
insomnia;
confusion;
numbness or tingling in your hands or feet; or
menstrual irregularities.
If you experience one of them stop using Serevent and tell your doctor as soon as possible. Also consult with your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual.
Drug interaction
Grisactin interact with follow drugs :
barbiturate medicines for sleep or seizures
female hormones, like estrogens or progestins and birth control pills
warfarin
Also note that interaction between two medications does not always mean that you
must stop taking one of them. As usual it affects the the effect of drugs, so consult with your doctor about how it interactions are being managed or should be managed.
Missed dose
If you forgot to take your dose in time, please do it as soon as you remember. But do not take if it is too late or almost time for your next dose. Do not take double or extra doses. Take your usually dose next day in the same regularly time.
Overdose
Symptoms of Grisactin overdose are not known well, but most possible may include: include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, numbness and tingling, and confusion. If you experience one of them call your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets. Do not use after expiration term.
